The very first candles we created were a set of four to be used at each direction to call the quarters when casting a circle. The colors were easy enough to decide upon, the scents a little harder for the Air and Water ones. What makes our set truly unique is that two are gel and two are solid. Earth had to be solid and ball shaped, on that we agreed. Water had to be blue gel and Air clear gel, that was easy too. To balance that left Fire as a solid, we made it ball shaped to match Earth. Some could argue the shapes as all are circular due the glass used for the gel, but we are the ones making them so what we say goes : )

"We add glitter but color naught, to spark clear intuitive thought"* The scent for Air is bergamot (organic) which is a citrus oil. Feathers are a symbol of Air but don't work well in candles, so we add one to the outside. You may place it under or next to candle, whatever seems right to you.

Our ball of Fire is scented with cinnamon bark oil and colored a bright red. Every element candle includes a symbol but with Fire, the candle itself is the best symbol. While visiting a jewelry supply store we found a Fire Opal crystal that has orange and red colors that seem to move within the crystal. The Fire Opal crystal is centered on the candle and looks great in the candlelight.

Water is blue colored gel (duh!) with a sea shell from a Florida Gulf Coast beach. The scent is palmarosa, a new oil to us but one that many references assure us is a watery scent. This jar has lines running up to the fancy fluted top, a very romantic holder for the element of feelings.

Dark deep brown like the richest soil, this candle features a teardrop shaped peridot. The Earth scent caused some disagreement; Laura wanted patchouli which to her smells like wet dirt, Alicia wanted pine, a crisp woodsy scent. We used a combination of balsam fir needle and pine essential oils to bring a touch of the forest to complete the blend of scents created by this set.
